Passenger (P) Endorsement Course
What is a “P” Endorsement?
A “P” Endorsement is an endorsement on your licence which
allows you to drive a vehicle for the carriage of fare paying
customers.
To obtain a “P” Endorsement you must complete two written
closed book unit standard assessments relating to
- Passenger Endorsement service rules
- Fatigue Management, Work time, and Driver logbook requirements
These assessments are conducted by the Triple “A” Driver Training Centre at
their office in Newlands. The course and assessments cost $520.00 and includes
the study guides required for the assessments and now
includes 2 x 6 to 6 1/2 hour workshops on each of the topics. This time is
dependent if self check exercises in the study guides were completed prior to
the workshops and include assessment time.
Once you have completed the assessments to competency standard you will be
issued with a certificate. You will need to take this certificate to a licencing
agent along with a current medical certificate. Your application will include a
'fit and proper person check'. This application can be submitted before
completing the P Endorsement course. This will get the wheels in motion as this
process can take up to 6-12 weeks to complete.
If you were not born in New Zealand or moved here before the age of 14yrs,
you will be required to supply a Police clearance from your country of birth
(send direct from that country to NZ Transport Agency)
You may also be required to take a driving test, which we are also able to
prepare you for.
